Instructing the teachers to ensure good enrolment of students and provide quality education in government schools, Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah said that there was every possibility of many schools being closed due to poor student strength.

Reviewing the performance of the Education Department with the head masters of all the government schools here on Saturday, the Collector said as many as 120 schools have been closed in various parts of the district owing to poor strength, adding that another 200 schools are on the verge of closure for the same reason.

“If you do not retain and enrol students in government schools, there is every possibility of many schools being closed forever,” he told the teachers. “Despite many private schools not having proper infrastructure, qualified faculty and other facilities, they are getting good results in the SSC examinations,” he said and instructed the teachers to show improve the quality of teaching at their respective schools.

He asked the headmasters to ensure that there are cent per cent results in all government schools in the next SSC examinations.
