Twenty TRS and BJP MLAs from Telangana region were suspended for two days from the Assembly for repeatedly disrupting the proceedings of the House on Monday.
After more than an hour-long adjournment forced by the Opposition parties, particularly the TRS, demanding a resolution on the statehood issue, the Speaker Nadendla Manohar on resumption of the House appealed to the members to allow the proceedings to continue but to no avail.
Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy then moved a resolution suspending 16 TRS and three BJP MLAs, besides Nagam Janardhan Reddy, an Independent sailing with the BJP, for two days.
Even after being suspended, the members continued to surround the podium. They later walked out of the House raising slogans against the Government. Earlier, after adjournment, the Speaker called for floor leaders meeting of all parties. Barring the TDP, other parties attended the meeting.
After the suspension of TRS and BJP members, the House proceedings began on a smooth note for the first time after Assembly resumed its sitting from June 10.
