20 girl students taken ill after having breakfast

As many as 20 girl studentsof Kasturbha Residential Girls’ High School in the Yerravaripalem mandal headquarters of Piler division were taken ill after having their breakfast on Wednesday morning.

The girls complained of dizziness and vomiting sensation, a few minutes after consuming milk and breakfast. A dozen of them got fainted, while others started vomiting. Ambulance services were pressed into service and the girls were rushed to SVRR Hospital in Tirupati, where eight of them were admitted into the casualty ward, while others were administered first aid.

Yerravaripalem mandal Tahsildar confirmed the report. “The doctors said that that the illness could be due to contaminated water. At present, all are safe,” he said. The hostel inmates said that three days ago, similar incident took place, but due to minor illness, none of the officials took the issue seriously.
