2 TDP MLAs to join TRS

February 26, 2014 03:09 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:17 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telugu Desam Party continues to face defection of its leaders, especially those from the Telangana region, to other parties since the State bifurcation issue came to the fore.

Tandur MLA M. Mahender Reddy and Chevella MLA K.S. Ratnam announced their resolve to switch loyalties to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. The two legislators were closeted with TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference along with TRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao later, they said they would formally join the TRS in the presence of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao soon.

Naidu unfazed

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, however, made light of the development claiming the party would not be affected by defection of some leaders who were eyeing their “selfish political ends”.
