Creating a record, the ‘hundi' at the temple of Lord Venkateswara on Wednesday, netted over 162 diamonds.

The incident came to light when the TTD Parakamani staff, while sorting out the offerings made by devotees, stumbled upon the precious offering found in a methodically-packed velvet cloth.

When contacted by The Hindu, TTD Executive officer L.V. Subramanyam who confirmed the offering said that the diamonds were worth a little over Rs. one crore.

However, the devotee who made the offering has not been identified yet. The annual income derived from the hundi alone exceeds over Rs.700 crore. Besides this, records reveal that the hundi also nets several quintals of gold and tonnes of silver.
