1.34 lakh voters in Khammam

More than 1.34 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in the civic elections to Kothagudem, Yellendu and Sattupalli municipalities and Madhira Nagara Panchayat slated for March 30.

According to sources, as many as 97 wards in three municipalities and one nagara panchayat will go to the polls on Sunday. More than 160 electronic voting machines are likely to be used for the polling.

A large contingent of police force was deployed in Kothagudem on the eve of civic elections. Patrolling has been intensified in the politically sensitive areas in the coal town.

The police department has made tight security arrangements in and around the polling stations in all the three municipal towns and one nagara panchayat to ensure smooth polling process on Sunday.
