The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Managing Director A.K. Khan on Sunday said that the Corporation is all set to run around 1,000 city buses in seventeen cities across the State in the near future.

Speaking to the press on his visit to Anantapur district, he said that the Corporation would henceforth concentrate on strengthening its income sources as well as add new and necessary services. In the same vein, he added that the Corporation was actively considering putting to use its properties across the State to generate more revenue.

He said that the land abutting bus stand in Anantapur town would also be developed in a suitable manner to reap benefits.

As the number of tourists and pilgrims thronging Tirupati was increasing by leaps and bounds, it was decided that the adjoining municipal land would be sought and used to develop the existing bus station at Tirupati.

Mr. Khan doled out goodies to the district by announcing introduction of 100 new buses in the region.

Besides, buses in 26 new routes would be operated this year. During his visit to the town, he held a meeting with the officials and reviewed the overall progress of the Corporation. He appreciated the region for its good track record in terms of fuel efficiency.
