A court on Wednesday awarded 10 years’ imprisonment to a man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 15-year-old daughter. The court also imposed ₹30,000 fine on him.

The man, a resident of Vaddera Colony, Old Rajiv Nagar, sexually assaulted the eighth standard student for a few months. He threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to the family members. He was a worker in a brick kiln, said CI Sahera.

Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother in April, the Nunna police registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012 and took up investigation.

“The judge examined 15 witnesses in the case. As the guilt was proved, the judge sentenced him to undergo 10 years’ imprisonment. The court asked the government to help the victim’s family to continue her studies,” said Public Prosecutor Donepudi Sambasiva Rao, who argued the case.
