At least 10 persons were injured as activists of the Telugu Desam Party and the YSRC, clashed in six Assembly constituencies in Prakasam district during the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and the State Assembly.
In the Addanki Assembly constituency, the YSRC and the TDP activists clashed at Nakkabotullapadu village near Ballikurava after a polling agent tried to help a visually challenged woman to cast her vote, resulting in injuries to two persons, police said.
Tense situation prevailed after eight people were injured in stone pelting between the YSRC and the TDP activists in Isakadarsi and Kolalapudi, both in Parchur Assembly constituency. The Martur police intervened and restored order.
Police said the activists of the two parties came to blows at Chatalamada near Pedaraveedu in Yerragondapalem and also at Patha Singara Botlapalem near Ponalur in Kondepi Assembly constituency.
The workers of both the parties were involved in minor skirmishes at Ravuru near Gudlur in Kandukur Assembly constituency and in Kothapatnam forming part of Ongole Assembly constituency. Timely intervention by the police averted a major flare-up, police added.
