Breaking news! Around 30 per cent of India's households experience no power cuts whatsoever. Believe it or not, these most common and worrying urban episodes don't occur in most parts of the country-- because they have no electricity in the first place.
Luckily, the sun and the electricity wire aren't our only source of light, and recently the country has seen a number of renewable energy devices making their way into the market. In fact, it has prompted the topic for the annual Centre for Science and Environment Media Fellowship; 'Off the grid renewable energy'.
Until April 10, media persons from across the country have the chance to apply for this two month fellowship; to “address, analyse and report on the issue of off grid renewable energy,” as the CSE's announcement declares.
For a chance to receive the Rs. 50,0000 stipend, applicants must submit an application with their information and a plan to look at issues ranging from the policy affecting renewable energy to the idea of up-scaling a resource which has conventionally been seen as a back-up solution.
The fellowship begins in April and lasts until the end of May, 2013.
