Amway CEO’s bail plea rejected

The Principal District Munsif Court rejected the bail plea of Amway CEO William S. Pinckney here on Wednesday. He was arrested by the Kurnool police at Gurgaon two days ago in connection with a criminal case filed against the company and was lodged in the Central Prison at Kadapa.

The magistrate granted the police plea for custody of the accused for five days till June 3.

On Tuesday, Kurnool Superintendent of Police Raghurami Reddy said the CEO had been booked under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, besides charges of cheating as well as extortion under the relevant sections of the IPC.

Mr. Pinckney, who was wanted in a case in Khammam, was reportedly shifted there from the Kadapa prison. Principal Junior Civil Judge Ramachandrudu presided over the PDM court.
