A day after the BJP was ticked off by a senior RSS leader for “compromising” on issues such as Article 370 and the AFSPA in its talks with the Peoples Democratic Party on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, party chief Amit Shah met Sangh leaders here to explain the party’s stand.
On a day that RSS affiliated Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh attacked the government on its reforms agenda and charged it with favouring the corporate sector, Mr. Shah's visit to the RSS office at Jhandewalan here assumes significance.
In its letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BMS termed the labour and economic reforms as “against nation’s interests” and declared that it will participate in nationwide satyagraha against such policies.
Mr. Shah met senior functionaries and had a separate meeting with Krishan Gopal, the RSS points man for dealing with BJP matters.
He is reported to have discussed issues such as the talks with the PDP on forming a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir and the party’s stand on the trust vote in the Bihar Assembly on Friday. Separately BJP leaders also met PDP chief Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to iron out differences over the AFSPA and Article 370.
The Delhi poll results and the coming Parliament session also figured in the discussions, sources indicated.
