The annual Amarnath pilgrimage will be held from July 1 to August 24, the Board managing the shrine announced today.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of civil and police officers here jointly chaired by Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board R.K. Goyal and Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Pawan Kotwal.
A detailed review of various issues pertaining to smooth conduct of the pilgrimage was done, according to an official release.
The CEO of SASB asked officials to ensure better coordination and synergy between various departments and religious and social organisations.
Interactions were also held with representatives of religious and social organisations who demanded proper arrangements for lodging and transportation facilities for sadhus.
They sought simplification of the registration process and hassle-free entry for the langar (community kitchen) operators.
During the meeting, which was also attended by IGP (Jammu) Ashok Kumar Gupta, arrangements for the Shri Budha Amarnath yatra in Poonch district were also discussed.
