After granting Keshub Mahindra bail in the Bhopal gas tragedy case, the district and sessions judge here on Friday granted bail to the other six convicts as well.

Judge Subhash Kakde released them on a bond of Rs. 1 lakh each.

All the seven filed an appeal after they had been convicted by the then chief judicial magistrate, Mohan P. Tiwari, on June 7.

Hearing on appeal

The district and sessions judge has scheduled a hearing on the appeal for July 27 and it is mandatory for all of them to seek bail afresh from the same court.

Besides Mr. Mahindra, former Union Carbide chairman, those who were handed a two-year jail sentence and a fine of Rs. 1,01,750 each are the then managing director, Vijay Gokhle; vice-president Kishore Kamdar; works manager J. Mukund; production manager S.P. Choudhry; plant superintendent K.V. Shetty; and operator S.I. Qureshi.
