Aligarh University gets ready for Yoga Day

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is getting ready for the third International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, with a series of rehearsals and workshops.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lead a yoga performance along with 55,000 participants at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan in Lucknow.

As part of the preparations, the Department of Physical Education of the AMU organised a three-day lecture series and a seven-day workshop on yoga.

Dr. Anurodh Singh Sisodia from the Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education lectured on how yoga can be beneficial in reducing stress. During the seven-day workshop attended by over 200 persons, Dr. S. Khurram Nisar of the Department of Physical Education explained the importance of basic yoga postures.

Faculty members and students are expected to take part in the celebrations on June 21.
