Confirming the prosecution’s claim, a ballistics expert on Monday adduced evidence that Mohammad Ajmal Amir ‘Kasab’ has the blood of a martyr on his hands.
Deposing before the special sessions court, Vasudev Patil of the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory said the two bullets recovered from the body of Assistant Sub-Inspector Tukaram Ombale were fired from his AK 47. Ombale lost his life while intercepting the lone surviving gunman.
The ballistic finding invalidates Ajmal’s claim made on July 20 that he was not responsible for Ombale’s death.
In all, 72 empties were recovered from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Girgaum Chowpatty. According to Mr. Patil’s analysis, these empties came from Ajmal’s AK 47. In addition, a live bullet found at Chowpatty and eight other bullets recovered from the bodies of the deceased and injured persons at the CST were fired from his rifle.
Forty-eight other empties recovered at the CST came from the rifle of Ajmal’s partner Abu Ismail.
