Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani on Thursday held consultations with the Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee over Telangana issue which rocked Parliament.

Mr. Advani met Mr. Mukherjee in the Lok Sabha soon after the House adjourned for the day and the two leaders were seen confabulating over the matter.

The BJP veteran, who also talked to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, is making efforts for some time being set aside in the day’s business for a debate on the Telangana issue.

He also complained that the government was unable to rein in its own Congress members from Andhra Pradesh who are demanding formation of Telangana.

In the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj wanted government to act on the Telangana issue.

“Why is this drama being enacted? We want the government to commit that the Telangana Bill will be brought in the current session,” Ms. Swaraj said.

TRS member Vijayashanti, who squatted in the Well of the Lok Sabha along with party chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, requested Mr. Mukherjee to make a statement on the Telangana issue.
