Leena Maria Paul, a 25-year-old actress working in Hindi and Tamil films, has been arrested along with four bouncers in a joint operation in South Delhi for alleged involvement in Rs.19-crore cheating case. The police claim to have seized from her nine luxury cars and four weapons.

“A Chennai Police team contacted the anti auto-theft squad of South Delhi Police seeking assistance in tracing a person named Balaji and his friend named Leena Maria Paul. Balaji and the actress were wanted for allegedly having cheated a Chennai branch of Canara Bank of Rs.19 crore. Accused Balaji had introduced himself as an Indian Administrative Officer to secure huge investments for a project,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) B.S. Jaiswal.

The joint team identified the farmhouse at Asola village in Outer Delhi where she had been putting up along with Balaji. She along with her accomplices was tracked down to a place near Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj. “On the basis of her photographs, we arrested her along with the four bouncers, from whom four firearms were also seized. Balaji, who was travelling in another vehicle, managed to escape.

The farmhouse where the accused were staying for the past one month belongs to one Mohinder Singh. The two had taken it on a monthly rent of Rs.4 lakh. They were using nine luxury cars. “We have registered a separate case against the four bouncers under the Arms Act as they had not got their weapon licences registered with the Licensing Branch of the Delhi Police within 30 days of their arrival,” said the officer.

During interrogation, Leena purportedly disclosed that she is a Bachelor of Dental Science graduate and had done her schooling in Dubai. Her parents are settled in Dubai where her father works with a company as an engineer. “She is into modelling and film industry for the past two years,” said Mr. Jaiswal.
