Stepping up pressure on Pakistan to take action in the Mumbai terror attacks case, India on Sunday said normalisation of bilateral ties could “only be in an atmosphere free of terror” and stressed the need for creation of the “right” ambience.
External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, who had a 30-minute meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar here, underlined the importance of taking action to bring perpetrators of 26/11 to justice and said New Delhi had given to Islamabad additional concrete evidence against those involved.
Mr. Krishna, who met Ms. Khar on the sidelines of a conference on Afghanistan, also raised the issue of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed’s “pouring venom” and continued anti-India propaganda, official sources said.
They said the two Ministers had a “candid and constructive discussion” in a cordial atmosphere during which they also shared their assessment of the outcome of their Foreign Secretary-level talks held in New Delhi two days ago.
During the talks, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai had shared with his counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani the information gathered from Abu Jundal who revealed that he, along with Saeed, was in the control room in Pakistan during the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Mr. Mathai also shared the information on Pakistani passport and Pakistan’s domestic identity cards issued to Jundal in the name of Riyasat Ali, indicating the involvement of Pakistan’s state agencies in the 26/11 attacks.
The External Affairs Minister also raised issues related to Sarabjit Singh, currently on a death row, and other Indian prisoners in Pakistan.
Ms. Khar assured India that the new Pakistan government was committed to the former Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani’s goal of bridging relations with India.
The two leaders also shared views on Mr. Krishna’s forthcoming visit to Pakistan in September.

India needs to make it clear to Pakistan that talks on terror attacks and expressing interest in getting the real culprits caught will not suffice. They need to show their sincerity in action by providing the information regarding the most wanted criminal brains behind Mumbai attacks.
Both countries need to understand that fight between both neighbours will not be of any use to both the countries rather other external factors or countries are getting benifited from these fights.
Hence India and Pakistan need to start striving slowly but steadily towards developing confidence amoung each other solve the differences between them and develop trade relations which would be benifit both countries.
If the Indian Government and our FM,Mr.Krishna think that we need to keep up the pressure on Pakistan by bringing home to them that we have submitted concrete evidence and normalisation of relations is possible only if the Perpetrators and Planners of 26/11 Terror Attack, they would only be breaking their heads against a brick wall.If anything,Pakistan has more than clearly stated that the evidence given by India is not enough.Even if leaflets are distributed to every Pakistani citizen reiterating this and handing
copies of the evidence, the Pak Government will not proceed against the terror outfits and their heads in a thousand years.
These kind of meetings and dialogues deliver nothing but just to hoodwink the public. How many years and how many times these people discussed about the same thing? Any constructive decision emerged from these meetings?
Zia has been dead a long time but Ziaism is alive and well and thriving in pakistan. It has deep and wide roots in the state apparatus whichy also nurtures it. Any attemp to dismantle it will lead to civil war in pakistan. This is the fear of the corrupt military led elite.Pakistan is between the devil and the deep blue sea.
India's first option must be galvanise world opinion against terrorism emerging from pakistan and impose economic and military sanctions on it; as well as a prohibition on foreign travel of its corrupt military led elite.
