Three days after the Delhi government found itself in a stand-off with the police and in the midst of allegations that it was racist for targeting Ugandan women, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said AAP was not at all “embarrassed’’ about Law Minister Somnath Bharti asking the police to raid a house on suspicion of a “drugs and sex racket going on there.”
“We are not against any race, country, caste or religion,’’ he told CNN-IBN in an interview adding that “it was media that made it racist.”
When reminded that no traces of drugs were found in the urine samples of the two women of African origin, he said, “the two Ugandan women refused to get a blood test done and the presence of drugs cannot be detected by urine samples.”
Charging the police with “connivance and harassing”, he said the Delhi Police must come under the Delhi government and not the Centre.
