A vote for development: Modi

May 20, 2016 02:18 am | Updated September 12, 2016 07:18 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Elated with his party’s historic victory in the Assembly elections in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said all the results were encouraging for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

“I thank all the voters for their faith and trust in the BJP and the NDA...These results have shown that people are supporting the development ideology of the BJP,” said Mr. Modi.

Mindful that a victory could help the BJP recover its momentum after last year’s poll losses — in Bihar and Delhi— Mr. Modi said the results would inspire the BJP to work even harder. “The BJP is working for the poor and will continue to work for them in the days to come.”

Mr. Modi said the BJP’s victory in Assam surprised many just like the time when it joined with the PDP to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
