Chief Minister Raman Singh thanked the people of Chhattisgarh for BJP’s imminent hat-trick in the Assembly elections in the State on Sunday evening, and said they had once again shown faith in the development works of his government.

“It is a historic day and I express my gratitude to the people of the State for showing faith in the development done by the BJP,” Mr. Singh told reporters here, as the party seemed poised to secure majority after a closely contested battle with Congress.

“People have voted us to power for the third time and it is a victory of the people of the state,” he said.

On BJP’s loss in eight seats in Bastar, he said the party will examine the causes for setback in this tribal region.

Efforts of national leaders of BJP, office-bearers and workers brought BJP to power again, he said.

Poll results in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh had clearly shown that people wanted change in the coming Lok Sabha election, Mr. Singh said.

Peeved by the rising prices and corruption, people would vote Congress out of power, he added.
