A matter of some relief: Karunanidhi

November 10, 2013 01:08 am | Updated May 26, 2016 04:55 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Saturday said it was a matter of some relief that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not going to Colombo to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

When asked about the information that External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid would attend the meeting instead of the Prime Minister, he said that Dr. Manmohan Singh had respected the sentiments of Tamils and his decision had offered some relief.

Mr. Karunanidhi, who has been asking the government to totally boycott the summit, said the participation of Mr. Khurshid was also debatable.
