A flurry of meetings ahead of visit

A flurry of meetings will take place ahead of President Barack Obama’s visit to Delhi on January 24.

An advance team from the U.S. is landing in Delhi on Friday to finalise his programme, while senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Telecommunications, led by Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, will be in Washington from January 12 to finalise the drafts of MoUs and agreements to be signed during the visit.

The new U.S. Ambassador, Richard Verma, whose appointment was rushed through by the U.S. administration ahead of Mr. Obama’s visit, will present his credentials to President Pranab Mukherjee on January 16.
