A busy Christmas for Ministers

The Centre has chalked out a busy schedule for Christmas, with at least four Ministers scheduled to attend a series of events.

According to an official invite, to commemorate the Good Governance Day, Communications & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will launch good governance initiatives and projects of his Ministry.

The Narendra Modi government has designated December 25, the birthday of the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as Good Governance Day.

Rural Development Minister Birender Singh will deliver the keynote address on the occasion of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Divas. A short film on the scheme will be screened. A standard data book and Grameen Sampark , a journal, will also be released. The rural roads scheme was launched during Mr. Vajpayee’s tenure.

Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju plans to open an ‘e-office’ in his Ministry. He also plans to inaugurate ‘eClearance (Communication Mast),’ a single-window clearance initiative for communication masts.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Gas Dharmendra Pradhan will unveil a programme to expand the sale of 5-kg LPG cylinders.

The India Meteorological Department will launch an SMS-based weather information service on December 25, normally a gazetted national holiday on account of Christmas.
