: A teenager from Baghpat on Thursday alleged that four men of her village tried to rape her and mutilated her ears when she repeatedly resisted their attempts on January 4.

The girl, a resident of the Asara village, which comes under the Ramala Police Station of Baghpat district, claimed that the police did not take any action when she approached them with her complaint.

The girl’s mother told The Hindu that four men kidnapped her daughter from her house and took her to a nearby house where they allegedly tried to rape her.

“When she resisted, they cut her ears off with a sharp-edged knife and she screamed out of pain. When I reached the nearby house after hearing my daughter scream, the attackers beat me badly and ran away,” she said.

The woman, who has been living with her daughter after her husband died a few years ago, alleged that the culprits threatened to harm her and her daughter on January 5.

Local police officials said that the victim and her mother were sent for a medical examination on Friday and the police were trying to arrest the culprits.

“We have registered a case on the basis of the victim’s complaint. No arrest has been made as yet but we are investigating the matter and will soon arrest the culprits,” Ajay Kumar Sharma, Circle Officer (Rural), said.
