Defence Minister A K Antony on Saturday said the armed forces were expecting “more attempts of infiltration” during summer by terrorists from across the Line of Control (LoC).

“During winter time also, there were serious attempts of infiltration. This summer, we are expecting more attempts of infiltration,” he told reporters here.

The minister was commenting on reports suggesting that more bunkers were found near the LoC by the security forces.

He said the armed forces were fully prepared to meet the challenge.

On the use of defence forces against the Naxalites, Mr. Antony said the government did not want to have a “public debate” on the issue.

“Regarding Naxals, from the government side, we don’t want a public debate. Government is seriously watching the whole development and analysing it. After carefully applying our mind, we will take a decision on the matter.

“Whenever and whatever decision the government takes, that decision will be applicable to everybody including the Defence Ministry,” he added.
