A newly-wed woman in Sarojini Nagar here allegedly made off with nearly Rs 2.5 lakh worth of jewellery from her husband’s house on the first night of weeding, police said on Saturday.

Shyambabu had married a 26-year-old woman from Devariya on February 23. The next morning when the family members went to the bride’s room to wake her up, they found her missing. A briefcase and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh were also missing, a police official said.

Her mobile was switched off and parents clueless about her whereabouts.

“Shyambabu has filed a complaint with Najirabad police station and the police is investigating the matter,” said Inspector Mukesh Kumar.
