The final figures released by the Election Commission show that 75.12 per cent votes were polled in Wednesday’s 2011 Kerala Assembly elections.
The highest voter turnout was recorded in Kozhikode where 81.3 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise. Kozhikode was closely followed by Kannur with 80.7 per cent turnout. The polling percentages in the other districts were: Alappuzha: 79.1 per cent, Ernakulam: 77.6 per cent, Kasaragod: 76.3 per cent, Palakakd: 75.6 per cent, Thrissur: 74.9 per cent,Malappuram: 74.6 per cent, Wayanad: 73.8 per cent, Kottayam: 73.8 per cent, Kollam: 72.8 per cent, Idukki: 71.1 per cent.,Thiruvananthapuram: 68.3 per cent and Pathanamthitta: 68.2 per cent.
The Election Commission would take a decision on re-polling in booth number 118 of Pattambi Assembly constituency in Palakkad district on Thursday. It has already been decided to hold re-polling in booth number 88 in the Chalakkudy constituency of Thrissur district as the electronic voting machine in the booth did not register 27 polled votes.
