7 naxals killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

Seven suspected Naxals were shot on Saturday by the police in an encounter in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, officials said. The encounter occurred when a joint team of Special Task Force and district police rushed to the forest area after receiving reports of movement of the suspected ultras there, Additional Director General Ramnivas told PTI.

Weapons, including SLR and .303 rifles, were recovered from the place of encounter, which continued till evening near Pardsipalli village, he said.

A separate exchange of fire between the police and Maoists took place near Bamidadar and Chhoteloram villages in the same district but there was no immediate report of any casualty, he said.
