A six-year old boy, Gautam Naidu, was crushed to death by a private school bus on Wednesday afternoon at Kandivali here.
His mother, Lata Naidu, sustained injuries in the accident.
The driver, who ran away fearing public backlash, was later arrested. Police said Ms. Naidu (35) was taking her son back home from school.
The accident took place when the bus was in reverse gear in a ‘no-entry’ lane, police said.
