30 per cent polling till noon in Jharkhand

An estimated 28 to 30 per cent of the electorate today exercised their votes till noon in the fourth phase of assembly polls in 14 constituencies in Maoist—affected areas of Jharkhand.

Polling has been peaceful as security forces were deployed in large numbers and air surveillance was carried out in the area, official sources said.

Elections are being held for Bahragora, Ghatsila, Potka, Ichagarh, Majhgaon, Manoharpur, Chakardharpur, Torpa, Sisai, Gumla, Bishunpur, Simdega, Kolebira and Lohardaga seats, where 233 candidates are in the fray.

Polling for 51 seats has been completed in the previous three phases while the final phase involving 16 seats will be held on December 18.

Results will be announced on December 23.
