Eight houses were damaged and over 30 families were evacuated to safer places due to landslips, as rains lashed several parts of the hill State on Sunday. While Dehradun received the maximum rainfall of 53.8 mm during the day, Pantnagar recorded 22.2 mm rainfall and Dunda in Uttarkashi district had 22 mm of rains. In Nuranoo village of Uttarkashi district, as many as eight houses were damaged due to landslips, , Sub Divisional Magistrate RK Pandey said. He said over 30 families have been taken to safer places like nearby temples, primary schools and panchayat offices. The Rishikesh—Badrinath national highway is blocked at two places in Chamoli district while efforts are on in full swing to reopen the Rishikesh-Gangotri and Rishkesh-Yamunotri highways, the State Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre said.
Weather likely to remain same
Met officials said the weather is likely to remain the same in the State during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, officials said relief material to the tune of Rs 103 crore has been provided so far to persons hit by the catastrophe in June. While 1,200 people rendered homeless in thecalamity are living in shelter homes, 500 of them are staying in rented accommodations and 300 others have taken shelter in government buildings, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar, said.
