2,500 ideas for new Secretariat building

August 19, 2011 01:24 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:33 am IST - CHENNAI:

Responding with great enthusiasm to The Hindu 's invitation for ideas on how the sprawling new building on Anna Salai could be saved from falling into disuse, readers and concerned citizens from across the world have sent in more than 1,400 proposals till Wednesday, the last date for receiving proposals.

The proposals were received mostly by e-mail, but also through letters and posts at the newspaper's website.

The proposals contain more than 2,500 ideas.

For some readers, a pithy line was enough, while others chose to elaborate; many sent us a set of alternatives, and some came up with composite ideas that contained suggestions for simultaneous utilisation of the complex, originally meant for use as the Secretariat and Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, for various public purposes.

The best proposals will be selected and announced soon.
