Twenty -three pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, who were stranded in the temple town of Mukthinath in Nepal, are safe and waiting for the Indian Embassy to arrange for an air-lift.

The pilgrims from the southern States, including nine from Telangana, who were on visit to holy shrines in the Himalayan kingdom, were held up due to landslips and heavy rain in the area.

Relatives of the pilgrims from Telangana approached the General Administration Department (GAD) in Hyderabad for help.

Deputy Secretary in GAD, Telangana, Arvinder Singh told The Hindu on Sunday night that officials had contacted the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Ministry of External Affairs, seeking information about the pilgrims.
