Nearly 20 officials of the anti—corruption agency CBI, ranging from Constable to DIG, are facing trial on allegations of graft and disproportionate assets against them, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.

The data presented by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy shows 33 officials of the anti-corruption agency are facing trial on various allegations while cases against three are under investigation. It includes three officials who have retired.

Out of those facing trial, 20 officials have charges of demanding and accepting bribe and disproportionate assets against them while the rest have allegations of criminal misconduct, forgery, abuse of official position, manipulation of service records, sending lewd messages to female colleagues among others.

The Minister said 55 officials of the agency are facing departmental inquiries.

The CBI maintains a list of officials with “dubious integrity”, he said.
