2 militants shot dead in Thoubal encounter

Two militants, suspected to be members of the outlawed Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup, were shot dead in an encounter in Thoubal district on Saturday night.

One AK 56 rifle, two 9 mm pistols with assorted ammunition and two hand grenades were recovered after the action by a combined force of Thoubal district police commandos and troopers of 42 Assam Rifles.

In another incident, the Imphal West district police arrested two militants.
