Thirteen Sri Lankan fishermen were held by the Coast Guard near here on Tuesday for illegally entering the area off the Orissa coast.

“Coast Guard ship Saranga intercepted three trawlers during routine patrol and handed over the 13 fishermen on board to the marine police here,” in-charge of Paradeep marine police station Tejraj Patel said. The fishermen were being interrogated.

The trawlers, containing a large quantity of fish, were being examined thoroughly by immigration and customs officials as well as police, he said. —PTI
