12 policemen surrender in encounter case

Twelve policemen, accused in a 1999 fake encounter case, surrendered before a court here on Tuesday. They were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

Dhananjay Singh, an alleged gangster, whom the accused policemen claimed to have eliminated, is the BSP MP from Jaunpur.

The 12 policemen, including a Sub-Inspector, surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate Intikhab Alam. Their bail application was turned down.

The CB-CID looked into their alleged involvement.
