Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have killed 114 terrorists and arrested 60 others this year, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken said in a written reply that 254 terror incidents took place since the start of this year in which 20 civilians were killed while 34 security personnel laid down their lives.

He said in North-Eastern states, 192 terror incidents took place in Manipur, followed by Assam where 138 incidents took place. In Manipur, 16 civilians and two security personnel have been killed this year in terror incidents whereas 72 extremists have been killed and 674 have been arrested, he said.

The security forces in Assam have killed 77 extremists and arrested 160 of them. During the year, 25 civilians and two security personnel have lost their lives in terror incidents, Mr. Makan said.

The Central and State security and intelligence agencies are working in tandem and this has helped avert a number of terrorist incidents, he said, and added that the Centre has been reviewing the situation on a continuous basis.
