The 11 persons arrested by the Bangalore police on Wednesday on the charge of plotting terror strikes in Karnataka, were remanded in police custody for 14 days by a judicial magistrate here on Thursday. Defence Research and Development Organisation, where suspect Aijaz Ahmed Mirza was employed as a junior research fellow, issued a release on Friday, saying Mirza “was not involved in any sensitive work and, as such, no sensitive/classified information has been compromised.”
“Disciplinary action as per Government of India rules is being taken [against Aijaz],” it said adding Mirza’s antecedents were verified before he was taken in.
Even as the police remained tight-lipped, heads of various Muslim organisations, at a press conference, expressed concern at the developments. Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) State president Ashfaq Ahmed said journalist Muthi-ur-Rahman Siddiqui was a listed member of the SIO and the Jamaat-e-Islami.
Jamaat leader Moulana Wahiduddin Khan said, “If those arrested are found guilty, they should be punished by all means.” But he called for more transparency on the part of the police. “Why is it that terrorists from a certain community are always arrested when elections are near,” he asked.
At another press conference, Muthi-ur-Rahman’s brother Ata-ur-Rahman said: “My heart says my brother is innocent.” Meanwhile, the Central Crime Branch of Bangalore police arrested Ubed-ul-Rahman, an MBA student, in Hyderabad.
Clarification
In a report from Bangalore published in the issue of August 31, headlined “Journalist among 11 arrested for ‘plotting terror in Karnataka’,” the description of some journalists who were purportedly targeted by the alleged plotters as ones “known for their virulent anti-minority columns” was unfair and unwarranted, and escaped gatekeeping mechanisms that are in place to keep such editorialising comments out of the news columns of this newspaper. That description, as well as the loose and imprecise reference to the “divergent ideologies” of two terrorist organisations are regretted and may be deemed as withdrawn. — The Editor

A person, if found he is guilty, of any community should be sentenced to death within a month and the people or organization supporting this type of terrorist should be penalized by the government. This should be a lesson to others who r involved in this type of activities.
@Ummer Sheriff ~ Please dont make us laugh, If Muslims kill people only in war that means they are always in a state of war against infidels like me.
We need to take care of our nations security. Why dont you condemn killing of Hindus in Pakistan.
Please accept that there is fundamental problem with Islam.
If you deny it, you are burying your face in the sand
@ Anil, Arrest have been made even in Mumbai so does it means even Congress wants to play election card there. Also a terrorist need not be member of SIO, either ways evil does not need residence or Recognition .
Anil, Let me judge you. You are one of those "secular" morons.
Apropos CLARIFICATION, "editorialising comments" strategically placed in the news columns have been the norm for more than a decade now. The transition from the Executvie Editor to the Editor-in-chief has not changed a bit this secular practise of inserting clever and vile comments in the guise of news reporting.
You're right brother but most of the Muslims arrested are not proven guilty even after
many years in judicial custody. A muslim doesn't kill a person except in war,
apostasy, blasphemy, prostitution and justice for murder. If he does so then he's
condemned. Terror plots for electoral benefit and spreading hatred among people.
It is found from the talk of some leaders referred in the article that only people from some community are always targeted. In the recent years there have been many attacks, terrifying incidents and destructive bomb blasts and through transparent investigation it has been found that people from only some particular community are behind them all.Of recent,India's social, secular and communal fabric has been torn out due to such dastardly acts.
Who are to blame? Many a threats loom in the dark.so it is high time any tendancy to plot untoward incidents should be nipped in the bud or else there may be a situation where these things can't be controlled by the government.Everyone knows that Indian judiciary system, although famous for inordinate delay, is highly unbiased.Let the court decide looking through the reports of investigation.
Its time that Minority Orginasations should educate the children of little age, who do not know the consequences fell in the trap and give lot of pain to thier parants and they also personally undergo panic. In these cases, even the close relatives cannot help, because the allegations are of national security.
Police should act like this to avoid another bomb blast in the country.
Please do not terror suspects - be it coming from the family or from organizations, You cannot suspect the legal and judicial system. Have you ever supported such things against arrest of Hindus, Why this foul crying - two articles in two days on such issues.
When did Muslims organizations accepted the involvement of Muslims in terrorist and anti national activity? I think they will not hesitate to defend even the Mumbai rioters. As long as Muslim organizations not condemning and isolating the trouble makers honestly, it is impossible to trust them.
A person is a member of jamat-e-islam , but that doesn't mean that he can't be a terrorist .Even ministers like Ms.Kodnani are murderers .DU professor was also arrested for terror activities .So it depends upon your mentality .
