About 100 of the 450 surveillance cameras installed in Parliament have not been functioning, according to a report submitted by a committee of MPs constituted to review Parliament security.

The threemember committee headed by BJP MP R.K. Singh, a former Union Home Secretary, has submitted its report to the Lok Sabha Speaker. A copy of the findings has also been sent to the Union Home Ministry for necessary action.

The committee is learnt to have highlighted several issues, including the necessity to upgrade security infrastructure, including under vehicle scanning systems and metal/explosive detectors, and provisioning of bulletproof gears for security personnel deployed inside Parliament.

Parliament security was completely revamped after the 2001 terror attack that rocked the nation.
