Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks that there are “better times ahead” for the country, saying that people should wait for four to six months. His obvious reference was to 2014 general elections likely to be held in April-May.
Taking pot shots at the UPA government, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial nominee said: “The Prime Minister said a good thing yesterday. He said good days are coming very soon and there is nothing to feel dejected. I agree with the Prime Minister. I don't want to say anything more. Maybe, you should wait for four to six months.”
Mr. Modi was addressing a session at the ongoing 12th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here. Referring to the Gujarat Model of development, he exhorted NRIs to participate in the election process by voting and helping in the “revolution” taking place in the country.
He said following new initiative introduced by his government, Gujarat was now proceeding in a new direction.
