Militants destroy NATO oil tanker in Pakistan

March 01, 2010 01:48 pm | Updated 01:48 pm IST - ISLAMABAD

Pakistani militants have attacked a tanker carrying fuel to NATO and US forces in Afghanistan.

Peshawar police chief Liaquat Ali Khan says police fought with the insurgents early Monday and killed one.

Mr Khan says the other attackers escaped and the tanker was destroyed.

Pakistani militants often attack trucks carrying fuel and other supplies for foreign troops in neighboring Afghanistan.

The attacks affect only a tiny percentage of the thousands of convoys that pass over Pakistani soil each week.
