Kasab to remain at Arthur Road jail for now

May 08, 2010 12:24 am | Updated November 28, 2021 09:01 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab who was sentenced to death for his role in the November 26 terror strike, will continue to stay at the Arthur Road jail, at least till the period of appeal in the High Court is over.

Confirming this, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chandra Iyengar told TheHindu that the period of limitation for appeals was 60 days from the day Kasab gets a certified copy of the judgment.

Ms. Iyengar, who visited the jail on Friday morning to inspect the security arrangements, said that since it was a place meant for undertrials, Kasab will have to be eventually moved to a different place.
