Srinagar restrictions

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and said will relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Authorities in Kashmir imposed partial restrictions in parts of downtown Srinagar to prevent any mishaps, following call by separatist leaders to protest against the U.S. decision.

Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat to campaign for his Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) for Gujarat state assembly election which will be held on Dec. 9 and Dec. 14. A day before voting in the first phase of Assembly polls in Gujarat, the ruling BJP on Friday released its poll manifesto (vision document), promising overall and inclusive development in the State. The party’s poll manifesto was released after the Opposition party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Ahmed Patel slammed the ruling party for not bringing out its manifesto before the polling.

Rage in Asia over Trump’s Jerusalem move

Protests were held outside U.S. embassies in Indonesia and Malaysia against President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

In Kuala Lumpur, more than 1,000 protesters led by Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin marched from a nearby mosque after Friday prayers to the U.S. Embassy, halting traffic as they chanted “Long live Islam” and “Destroy Zionists.” Many carried banners, some of which said “Free Palestine” and “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.”

In Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, more than 300 protesters shouted “Go to hell Israel!” and called on Mr. Trump to stop “blind support” for the Jewish state.

The protesters marched from mosques to the heavily guarded U.S. Embassy, waving Palestinian and Indonesian flags. They burned tires near the embassy and photos of Mr. Trump and U.S. and Israeli flags in a similar rally in the cities of Banda Aceh and Makassar. Another protest was held in Surabaya, Indonesia’s second largest city.

The fishermen's protest at Kuzhithurai railway station was withdrawn late on Thursday after the protesters accepted Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan’s assurance that the ongoing search operations to locate the missing fishermen would be intensified in the deep sea.  Earlier on Thursday, thousands of villagers of fishing hamlets staged a massive road-cum-rail roko agitation in Kanniyakumari district over alleged lack of efforts to rescue Ockhi-hit fishermen. Wildfires roared through canyons, hillsides and residential areas in densely populated Southern California for a fourth day on Thursday as gusting winds hampered efforts to quell the flames. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Thursday declaring to be National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Mr. Trump signed the proclamation at a White House ceremony attended by six veterans of the attack.  Mr. Trump called the survivors "heroes" and said, " All American hearts are filled with gratitude for their service, their sacrifice and their presence here today". Mr. Trump paid a visit to Hawaii's Pearl Harbor and its memorial to the USS Arizona last month before he departed for his trip to Asia.

The surprise attack by Japan killed more than 2,000 Americans and plunged the U.S. into World War II.
