The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday declared a cash reward for providing information on the whereabouts of the three main accused in the Jnaneswari Express derailment case.

The CBI has named Bapi Mahato, Umakanta Mahato and Asit Mahato — all members of the Maoist-backed Police Santrash Birodhi Janasadharaner Committee — as the key conspirators and main accused in the May 28 rail disaster.A CBI statement said that a cash reward of Rs.1 lakh each has been declared for anyone who provides the investigating agency with information about the three absconding persons that could lead to their arrest.

The statement said CBI Director Ashwani Kumar has constituted a Joint Investigation Team comprising officers from the CBI, West Bengal police, Railway Protection Force, Railway Board and forensic experts for carrying out the probe in a “time-bound manner.”

Posters carrying the pictures of the absconding trio would be displayed across the region for seeking information about them. The posters will be issued in English, Bengali and Alchiki languages.

The posters will contain four phone numbers, an e-mail address as well as the postal address of the CBI office in the city for anyone wishing to pass on information. Their identity would not be revealed.
