Yemeni President Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi replaced the interior and oil ministers on Friday and appointed a new security chief, the state-run SABA news agency reported.

Mr. Hadi appointed General Abdu Hassan al-Tarb as interior minister, replacing Abdul Qader Qahtan who was appointed in December 2011.

Mr. Al-Tarb was appointed as Commander of VIP and Institutions Protection Police Department.

Khaled Bahah was appointed minister of oil and minerals. He replaces Ahmed Abdullah Dares, who presented his resignation to Mr. Hadi last month.

Mr. Bahah was the minister of oil between 2006 and 2009, then he was appointed as Yemen’s ambassador to Canada.

Mr. Hadi also appointed Jalal al-Rowaishan as head of the political security department, SABA reported.
