Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will preside over a same-sex wedding on Saturday in what is believed to be a first for a member of the Supreme Court. Ms. Justice Ginsburg will officiate at the marriage of Michael M. Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, and John Roberts, an economist at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Ms. Justice Ginsburg agreed to officiate after the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in June that struck down the Defence of Marriage Act, which the majority said stigmatised same-sex unions. She voted with the majority in the five-to-4 decision.
