Three persons, including two Indian tourists, have been killed and five others injured in Thailand when a van, carrying an Indian family, crashed into a parked truck near an airport in Bangkok.

The two tourists have been identified as Nupur Dewan and Suresh Kumar Dewan, Nation reported.

The crash occurred on the five-lane elevated road leading to the entrance of the passenger terminal on Monday.

The passenger van, carrying eight Indian passengers, seven of them from the same family, was heading to the airport, police said.

The van ran into a six-wheel parked water truck. The force of the collision set the back of the truck on fire and the van ricocheted into the middle lane.

It was parked with flashing lights on while the crew were watering trees under the elevated road. The van driver and two Indian passengers from the same family, died on the spot.

Other injured people, included two airport employees on the water truck and six other Indians, including two toddlers.

A 37-year-old man, who was also travelling in the van sustained serious injuries. Police said the van driver was driving at high speed and failed to move over into the left lane in time to avoid the parked water truck.
